Hello everyone,
I am new to this board but what a great way to kick off my first post. I have been a huge fan of Privateer Press for many years. The sculpts, the painting, the story line. All of it amazing.
The people that run PP are some of the smartest and most talented game designers in the industry.
Everyone at Battle Foam was honored to be contacted about Battle Foam making the first ever bags for PP.
As you all may know we have been hard at work with the great design team over at Privateer Press. Rob Hawkins and I have spent countless hours in designing a bag that not only carried models but took care of the little details. Careful thought went into each part of the bag. Little details like a place to clip your card pages or slide your card sleeves.
Along with these and many other cool features is the foam. As always only the highest quality foam is used in Battle Foam trays. If it does not say Battle Foam its just a cheap rip off. The guys at Privateer Press has their hands in every part of the foam tray design and came up with a great combo of trays and toppers to keep even the most oddly posed models safe.
Take a minute and click over to Battle Foam for all the details. Bag size, foam size, and pre-orders can all be found there. A full review video will be up in the next few days so stay tuned for that.
Thanks to everyone at Privateer Press and we look forward to everyones pre-orders.

I appreciate what you are trying to do here.
But IMO, pre-cut just doesn't suit WM/Hordes models. There's no space marine holing a bolt gun in two hands here.
I love the look of the bags. They look like sturdy awesome bags with pockets for everything warmachine and hordes needs. But $145? Ouch. The competition is selling a similar bag in the 50 to 70 range
I don't mean to sound like a jerk. I'm sure hardwork went into these and I appreciate it.

can't wait to get my hands on one of these, very slick indeed.

@ Dicegod,
From our Interview we had with Romeo.... check it out there is more than just pre cut foam. It is all very exciting.
Thanks

Hi Dicegod,
I totally agree with you. PP models in no way compare to Space Marine or any other GW kit.
That is why Rob and I worked so hard designing these trays. The entire team over at PP and I spent months going over the different models they make.
After all, who better to talk to about fit and finish then the experts who created the models in the first place.
You'll find that the pre cut trays work great as the starter set. They will hold 95% of everything out there regardless of the pose.
Over the next few months after the launch new trays will become available to our great customers. These trays will feature specific army foam that will perfectly fit models for that faction.
Stay tuned for an incredible amount of PP goodness from Battle Foam.
Thanks
Romeo

Hi Techcasualty,
Actually if you compare what the new Battle Foam bags hold to the competitions bags you'll quickly notice that you would need 2 of the other guys bags to hold the same amount.
If you add the price you listed x2 you get about the same amount as these bags.
What you don't get with the other guy is.
-Hard Inner Shell to protect the models.
-2 times the amount of storage as the Army transport.
-Battle Foam quality foam that not only protects but comes with a warranty.
-A great look and feel designed by the PP staff and BF staff.
-Amazing use of space to hold not only models but card sleeves, pens, and card pages.
-And lastly the pride of showing off your colors. Warmachine or Hordes? Who are you with?

follow up question Mr Romeo,
Is there any plans to release a smaller bag for perhaps a cheaper price? I don't know about others, but I generally do not have that many warmachine models. I take closer to half your count to most of my games and that is carrying two different armies with some options (ironclad or stormclad) Something more akin to the size of sabol designs platoon?
I walk/ride the bus so a smaller container is actually BETTER for me.
That's a great question. For now this is the main bag for the lines. You will notice once you see the bag in person that there is an unusually suspicious zipper attachment on the bottom of both bags. WINK WINK.
Future projects are always possible and many cool things are on the drawing board. Stay tuned but take a closer look at this bag. Its a great way to hold everything you own for both armies and a really safe way to not only travel but store your models around the house.

Hi there!
Congrats on the Bags, they look absolutely great. Will those be distributed in Europe and if yes by whom?

Hi Bombance,
Yes, we will offer the full line of bags once they launch on Feb 15th with Wayland Games. Stay tuned with their site to find out more.

arrgh....sometimes i feel like I shouldn't buy anything from you guys because right around the corner you'll come out with something better than what I just bought.
I now have the P.A.C.K. 1520 and I've customized the pluck foam but in the process unglued the majority of the pluck foam from the bottom (only the outer glue is holding the whole thing together)...if I'd have only have waited then I could have this bag instead...
I love your stuff but I have no idea when to purchase anything new since you'll have cooler better stuff out as soon as I've finished cutting the foam!!
I'd love to get one of each, but for $145 a piece I don't know if I can even get one sadly.
the bags look great but the foam is way way too generic.
i know you guys hate pluck foam but with expanding armies and everyone having unique model collections it seems like the way to go.
if the bags become available separately i will be much more interested.
Aye, I love the bags, but I can't see myself ever using pre-cut foam. They'll either be so tight that certain models don't fit, or so loose that the models rattle around.
I might take a look at them if they ever sell them empty, so I can toss Sabol trays inside.
Sgt. Diablo, I think you need close-ups of Warmachine figures in the foam and
comparisons between this and a Sabol bag.
These are larger than Sabol.
I just thought of one drawback that these have in which the Sabol ones are superior. A friend of mine has taken two of the Sabol 'Platoon' bags to a con. On tournament day, he put his miniatures for that round in one, and he filled the other with ice and 'drinks'. Because the zippers go all the way down the back on these, I think they'd probably leak quite a bit when used as a cooler.
That said, these do look pretty good otherwise. One question though. Do the trays have all the slots already cut out and empty? Or do the come filled with foam that you can leave in in order to add a little more support between trays?
Romeo,
After counting up my Hordes collection, I'm pretty sure that I could make excellent use of the BF bag.
I have been toying with the idea of switching foam solutions for a good long time and these bags make the decision pretty easy.
BTW, the mystery zipper on the bottom is what clinched the deal for me.
Expect to see an order from me soon. Just have to pass it by my financial advisor (the wife).
Sadly there is no way for me to switch my Cygnar over ATM since that model count dwarfs my Circle army. Maybe when you have something that attaches to that zipper on the bottom.![]()

Dang, those are very nice. Quite large, but nice.
I'm also a bit of a sucker for "official" stuff like this...hmm...
Very nice. I currently use the Sabol Army Transports and while I don't plan on replacing I'll definitely switch to these. Am I the only one who likes the sound of precut foam trays? I hate picking out the foam squares. It's tedius and easy to make a mistake. It looks like I could put 9 or 10 troopers in a single row of the PP bags whereas the Sabol foam trays only allow me, if I remember correctly, removing a 3x3 square to stand the model up, 18 troopers. It looks like I could easily get 30 troopers in a single foam tray with these plus a few standard bearers.
Plus look at the card pockets. Very nice. I wouldn't have to carry around my tackle box full of my tokens and templates. Keep in mind when I game I like to bring every faction model I have because I never know what army I'd like to build until I get to teh gaming store.
Just echoing Nalik, there is a trojan floating around on their website.
Nice looking bag and foam. I'm highly interested...
Love the cases! Is it possible to customize at all what trays you get? Cause as a troll player, I think I may need more then 22 Medium Base slots and certainly a lot less then 105 small based slots.
I'm in for one of these!
Will you have any at Templecon?
Can I fit Karchev or a Behemoth in the foam that comes with the bag, or do I need the custom trays for that?
Wow, they do look real nice.
Two problems though.
1 they are a little pricey and 2 I ALREADY FRICKING HAVE SO MANY ARMY TRANSPORT CASES WHY DID YOU TAKE SO LONG TO PUT THESE OUT!!!!
I most likely will still get them eventually.
I might buy one of those if I can find a way to remove those logos on the bag.
They do look nice, but I think the price point will put them out of reach of many players. Sure, they're bigger and stronger for airline travel, but honestly how many people need that? Most people are going to haul their stuff down to the LGS or their buddy's basement, and you don't need a super shock-proof, bomb-proof case for that. And like others have said, I'm not a fan of the precut foam, and I'm really not a fan of the loose fit that many models will seem to have. Foam or not, shaking around inside will cause breakage on things like Satyxis, Iron Fangs, or any number of models.
These bags look great. I like the binder/card holder segments too.
To those saying "they're pricey", well, you're right. I would like to note (*I am not paid by Battlefoam in any way!*) that these bags are top-notch. I've got SABOL cases, Battlefoam, and any number of other specialty cases, and will freely admit that the Battlefoam cases are the best. The hard shells really do matter, and keep the foam inside from deforming (as I've had happen in larger, soft cases). The foam is also not your average coarse stuff, and the custom cutting really does help to maximize storage (there's seldom "dead space" in the trays). The canvas outer layer is also very resilient to the wear and tear I've put my poor bags through.
I think that PP made the right choice. I am anticipating getting one soon.
I got the trojan warning from the site as well.
It totally crashed my browser =(
The cases are indeed quite pretty. However, even empty these cases are quite a bit heavier than the competitors (yes, perhaps that affords more protection, perhaps it is also just heavy). Also, I am concerned about the foam trays...the precut trays do not do me much good, as I do quite a few conversions...will the Warmachine/Hordes cases be available without the precut trays? And how exactly am I going to fit my Deathjack into a 2.5" tray?!?
The bags look good.
@Sgt Diablo When will you be offering the faction specific bags? I'm specifically looking for Retribution and Protectorate.
These cases do look very nice. I only see three problems with them to detract from all the positive features for me:
1. Pre-cut trays aren't terrible (not the best, but I could live with them) but nothing in the pictures gives me any confidence that I could fit my trollblood army into these things - not enough room for bigger based models. Assuming this will be fixed by selling trays separately.
2. Pre-cut foam does make it hard on us with oddly shaped conversions. My deathjack is a good inch and a half taller than standard and wouldn't fit in this except lying on his back and that might be pushing it a bit. As it is, he's top load only in my case of picked foam with a spare tray plucked out over top of him.
3. My wife will kill me if I buy yet another miniatures transport case.
I think he was referring to me saying "not everyone needs bullet-proof cases." And there is truth to this, just as much as there is truth to "some people need bullet-proof cases." If you're going to take them on the airline, then yeah, these are probably a lot better option. For dragging 10 minutes across town in the backseat of your car, you probably don't need that level of protection unless you drive really, really badly.![]()
Protectrate all the way for me! Romeo confirmed on Guts N Gears that there will faction specific foam cut trays for models.
I'm liking the bags on whats on offer and since I might attend Gen USA next year and other USA events this bag will come in handy.
Also in the show he goes through how to trace your own models to insure an exact fitting sending the details to him to you get that exact fitting for your trollbloods or whatever else.

I will post that a Trollblood player was able to fit most, if not all his troll bloods in the precut stuff. There's different sizes to everything, so just take measurements when ordering. Because of the trays' size, he was able to fit nearly everything he needed for 750 tournaments and 50 pt games (2 lists) into 3 trays. Which then fit in the bag.
"Most" and "nearly everything" means that he was not able to fit some things, does it not?
I'm really not trying to harsh on these. They look really nice, and I've heard the quality of the foam itself is really good. But it seems that there are definitely two things that are issues for folks (including myself):
1. Price point. Yes, they may carry twice as much as "other" bags, but not everyone really needs such huge bags. If you're taking your entire collection to GenCon, sure. If you're heading to the LGS for a night of gaming, probably not.
2. Precut Foam. While it may fit most of the standard models made, it sounds like it won't fit all of them (looking at the way I assembled my Satyxis, there's no way in h3ll they'll fit in precut rectangles), and conversions or even just "special decorative bases" sound like they'll fit even less.
For me and I can only speak for myself.
I find this ideal. For me.
Because, I only need one army transport bag. I will in the future get pre cut Warmachine/Hordes trays that fit to the model. I can also get customized trays for my models which I have re-posed uniquely.
I then do not have a clutter of cases and also. I do not have to worry about how to fit in the next new unique model pose Privateer Press does which I have bought to fit in the same case.
Again I really think it's down to personal tastes, wants and needs. As for the price point. I take a long term view. Also I am fed up with my own custom made case I made to fit the Privateer Press models as it does the job most of the time but not that well.
Also my cabinets are filling up with PP models and I can't seem to find a good excuse for the Wife to buy another glass cabinet. So the large space and the amount of models I can fit in is Ideal.
Further to that, allot of the time it will be half empty as I won't carry much, but then again I can fit my books, or even clothes for an over night stay for a weekend event.
So for me it's a winner, but then that is subjective to my taste. However I guess we all agree it's a nice looking bag =P.
Regards
Sam

I understand the UBERness of the craftsmanship but I have to side on the pricey side, unfortunately, but I love the look of them.
Guess I need to see one in person to really make judgment though.
And for the record I don't use the competition today either![]()
Absolutely! They are *damn* sharp bags, and really the addition of the ring binder and pouches on the back side is brilliant. For those who do travel a lot, I'm sure these cases are worth the cost.
Now, if they'd only do smaller cases at about 1/2 the price for those of us who don't need the massive cases...![]()
